About Summit Seeker

We're building America's most comprehensive free hiking trail database—one trail at a time.

Our Mission

Summit Seeker was created with a simple mission: make detailed hiking trail information freely accessible to everyone. We believe that exploring the outdoors shouldn't require expensive subscriptions or paywalls. Every hiker deserves access to accurate trail maps, elevation profiles, safety information, and planning tools—completely free.

Why We Built This

As passionate hikers ourselves, we've experienced the frustration of:

  • Paywalled trail information on other platforms
  • Incomplete or outdated trail descriptions
  • Scattered information across dozens of sources
  • Lack of detailed safety information and seasonal considerations

We started Summit Seeker to solve these problems. Our platform provides comprehensive trail guides with interactive maps, elevation charts, parking details, seasonal tips, and safety warnings—all in one place, all for free.

What We Cover

Summit Seeker is expanding to cover all 50 states with detailed information including:

  • Interactive trail maps with GPS coordinates and waypoints
  • Elevation profiles showing climb patterns and difficulty
  • Parking information with exact coordinates and fees
  • Seasonal guides for optimal visit timing
  • Safety warnings and emergency contact information
  • Trail features like waterfalls, lakes, summits, and viewpoints
  • Difficulty ratings based on distance, elevation gain, and terrain

Our Commitment to You

100% Free. Forever.

Summit Seeker will always provide core trail information completely free. We're supported by display advertising and affiliate partnerships with outdoor gear retailers—never paywalls or subscriptions.

  • ✓ Accurate Information: We verify trail data through official sources (National Park Service, USFS, state parks) and hiker feedback.
  • ✓ Regular Updates: Trail conditions change—we continuously update our database with seasonal closures, permit requirements, and route changes.
